A Fresh Start

Image
School ended. Finally, some free time to refocus on my interests that have been pushed aside for school. I decided to take a look at my blog and get ready with some new posts - maybe think up some fresh new content, right? Ew. The blog had a serious antique early 2000's vibe going on. I cringed when I opened it up. What can I say? When I was younger I enjoyed the antique look and thought it was mature at the time. Now, I'm in a new season of my life. I see the world differently, and it's time for a fresh start. I'm not the same person. I can express my thoughts, feelings, and aspirations a lot better now than when I was fifteen. I have a better grasp of my beliefs and convictions. I have different friends, people who are willing to stretch me in painful, yet necessary ways. Now, I'm not afraid to reveal myself as I truly am. Before, I didn't want to show myself as I am; I wanted to convey that I was completely mature without a hint of silliness. I wante...

"Unity added to infinity does not increase it at all, any more than a foot added to an infinite measurement: the finite is annihilated in the presence of the infinite and becomes pure nothingness. So it is with our mind before God, with our justice before divine justice. There is not so great a disproportion between our justice and God's as between unity and infinity. God's justice must be as vast as his mercy. Now his justice towards the damned is less vast and ought to be less startling to us than his mercy towards the elect." Blaise Pascal's Pens ées

Happy Easter Sunday!

“Oh, to see the dawn Of the darkest day: Christ on the road to Calvary. Tried by sinful men, Torn and beaten, then Nailed to a cross of wood. CHORUS: This, the pow’r of the cross: Christ became sin for us; Took the blame, bore the wrath— We stand forgiven at the cross. Oh, to see the pain Written on Your face, Bearing the awesome weight of sin. Ev’ry bitter thought, Ev’ry evil deed Crowning Your bloodstained brow. Now the daylight flees; Now the ground beneath Quakes as its Maker bows His head. Curtain torn in two, Dead are raised to life; ”Finished!” the vict’ry cry. Oh, to see my name Written in the wounds, For through Your suffering I am free. Death is crushed to death; Life is mine to live, Won through Your selfless love. FINAL CHORUS: This, the pow’r of the cross: Son of God—slain for us. What a love! What a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross.” He is Risen! Happy Easter!

In Christ Alone

I have been spending a lot of time thinking about music in the worship service quite a bit this week. For one thing I have a school project to turn in about that subject, but the other reason is because of tomorrow being Easter Sunday, Resurrection Sunday, however you like to say it. I have been  particularly grateful for the song " In Christ Alone" . I don't know about y'all, but music like In Christ Alone puts what I want to say to God in ways I never would be able to. I thank God for giving people like the Getty's, Ron Hamilton, Steve Pettit (among others) the gift of expressing their praise to God with such beautiful words and melodies. "In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; This cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all— Here in the love of Christ I stand. In ...

Hey.....

Hey y'all! Well, I feel sorry for all of y'all. I haven't posted an actual blog post for.... a long time. Yeah. So today I am going to attempt to give y'all a quick summary of the past few months. So, here we go! May We sold our house in December and had been living in a rental. In May, we finally bought a house. The house needed a bit of work, so we were driving back and forth from our rental to the house for about 2 months. June-July We went on vacation to Pennsylvania (the Amish country, specifically).  A few highlights of the trip: We were down for breakfast at the hotel we were staying at. There were a few elderly ladies sitting at the table in front of us. They were so sunny, smiling, talking, and saying "Hi!" to practically everyone that passed their table. My mom asked them "Excuse me, where are y'all from?" They told us that they were from SC. We responded with excited tones that we were from the same state. And oh how the...

Praise the Lord!

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, let this blest assurance control, that Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and hath shed his own blood for my soul . My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, O my soul!   - It is Well by Horatio Spafford

~Lest We Forget~

Hey Y'all! I truly meant to post this on the 4th, but we have been working at our new house, and I do not have WiFi at the house, so... I'm sorry! I know poems are not easy for everyone, but please take time to read this poem. It is very important! ~ Recessional~ by Rudyard Kipling God of our fathers, known of old,    Lord of our far-flung battle-line, Beneath whose awful Hand we hold    Dominion over palm and pine— Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forget—lest we forget! The tumult and the shouting dies;    The Captains and the Kings depart: Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,    An humble and a contrite heart. Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forget—lest we forget! Far-called, our navies melt away;    On dune and headland sinks the fire: Lo, all our pomp of yesterday    Is one with Nineveh and Tyre! Judge of the Na...
